Our Acts 1:8 Strategy for Missions
At First Baptist Sylvania, we take seriously the call of Jesus in Acts 1:8 to be His witnesses “in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” This is more than a verse on paper — it’s our strategy for living out the mission of God. Through prayer, giving, and going, we join hands as a church family to make Christ known locally, nationally, and internationally. Every believer has a role to play, and together we are carrying the light of the gospel to a world in need.
Local Missions - Our Jerusalem
Our mission begins right here at home in Sylvania and Screven County. We serve our neighbors through community outreach, service projects, food and clothing ministries, and by sharing Christ in schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. From Vacation Bible School to local partnerships, we are committed to loving our community with the truth of the gospel in both word and action.
National Missions - Our Judea and Samaria
Beyond our hometown, we join with other churches across Georgia and the United States to take the gospel to places of need. This includes supporting church plants, sending mission teams, and partnering with ministries that meet physical and spiritual needs. Through prayer, giving, and going, we are helping reach every corner of our nation with the hope of Jesus Christ.
International Missions - To the Ends of the Earth
God has called us to look beyond our borders and join Him in His global mission. We partner with missionaries, mission organizations, and like-minded churches to share the gospel across cultures and continents. Whether through short-term trips, financial support, or ongoing prayer, we are committed to seeing lives transformed and disciples made in every nation. At First Baptist Sylvania, we believe every member has a part to play in God’s plan to reach the nations.
