Our Mission
At First Baptist Church of Sylvania, our mission is to glorify God by worshiping Him wholeheartedly, growing in the truth of His Word, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, ministering to those in need, and connecting as a family of faith. Everything we do flows from our desire to see lives transformed by the gospel — in Sylvania, throughout Georgia, and to the ends of the earth.
Our Story
First Baptist Church of Sylvania began in 1848 when a small group of believers gathered to worship God and share the good news of Jesus Christ in our community. Since then, countless lives have been transformed here — children have grown up learning God’s Word, families have been strengthened, and members have carried the gospel from Sylvania to the ends of the earth.
We thank God for the faithfulness of those who came before us, but we believe our greatest days are still ahead. Rooted in Scripture and committed to our mission, we trust God will continue to use First Baptist as a lighthouse for the gospel — right here in Sylvania and across the world.

At First Baptist Sylvania, we affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as our statement of faith. This confession is a treasure of Biblical truth and clarity about the things that matter. It expresses our commitment to the authority of Scripture, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and the mission of the church.

Sean Vickers
Pastor
Bro. Sean became the Pastor of First Baptist at the beginning of 2025. A devoted husband and father of five, he is passionate about preaching God’s Word with clarity and helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. With a heart for worship, discipleship, evangelism, ministry, and fellowship, Pastor Sean seeks to lead the church in fulfilling its mission for God’s glory.
Outside of ministry, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors.

Jennifer Reddick
Director Preschool Ministry
Jennifer has served as Director of our Weekday Preschool Ministry since 2022. As a wife and mother of three, she is passionate about creating a safe, loving, Christ-centered environment where children can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Understanding that the early years are a time of tremendous growth, she is committed to partnering with families to lay a strong foundation of faith during this important stage.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys playing pickleball, thrifting, and spending time with her family.
